This Day in Hip Hop: Fantastic 5 Beats Cold Crush Brothers

On this day back in 1981, The Fantastic Five took on the Cold Crush Brothers at The Harlem World in an epic New York rap battle.

The Cold Crush Brothers, led by Grandmaster Caz, came out in gangster outfits. They were the first to come out and spit their lyrics. Grandmaster Theodore, and The Fantastic Five came out in white tuxedos and left the female fans going wild.

This rap battle set the standard for how MC’s and crews could prove themselves at the Harlem World.
